< BACK TO ALL

Luke 9:1-6 | What does it look like to be sent on a mission with nothing but the clothes on your back and the power of God? In Luke 9, we encounter a striking moment where Jesus calls his twelve apostles together, equips them with authority over demons and disease, and sends them out to proclaim the kingdom of God with absolutely no provisions, no money, no extra clothing, and no food. The contrast is startling and intentional. They are sent with nothing, yet they have everything they need. This passage challenges us to examine our own tendency to feel ill-equipped for the mission God has placed before us. The apostles were ordinary men, not scholars or religious elites, yet Acts 4:13 reminds us that what set them apart was simply that they had been with Jesus. That same truth applies to us. Our time walking with Christ, immersed in his Word and his presence, equips us for the very mission he sends us into. The gospel is not a self-improvement strategy or one lifestyle option among many. It is the most urgent and glorious message the world has ever heard, carrying with it the weight of eternity. As we reflect on this passage, we are invited to ask ourselves honestly: where have we been sent, and are we faithfully proclaiming the good news in that place?
